Recreation in Winter

Winter sports include alpine skiing, sledding, paragliding, snowshoeing, hiking, ski touring.

The focus in winter is, without a doubt, on alpine skiing.  Zillertal is home to 5 major ski areas: Fügen Spieljoch, featuring the longest valley run with complete snowmaking coverage in the region, Kaltenbach – Hochfügen ( 40 lifts and 155 kilometers of slopes), Zillertal Arena Zell-Gerlos, Zillertal 3000 and the Hintertux glacier ski area. A grand total of 600 km of slopes and 174 ski lifts. Most of the valley runs also have snowmaking capability, promising the most reliable snow conditions you could imagine. Elevations range from 500m up to over 3000m. Single runs of over 10 km are possible. The ski areas are renowned for being especially children- and family-friendly.

Berghaus Zillertal serves as an ideal base for ski tours (Hamberg, Wiedersberger Horn, Standkopf, Gamsstein, Loderstein, Galtenberg). And you can set out to all destinations from outside your front door. Sledding expeditions, hikes and paragliding adventures also begin from your doorstep.

Nearby attractions: Fügen Pool & Spa with the longest, most exciting slide in western Austria (133 meters long, electronic timekeeping), bubbling grotto with waterfall, climbing nets and a big area for small children, guaranteeing never-ending fun and adventure in and around the water for big and small.
